They conceived of a four part epic, and asked Tara and Hannah and I to work with them. It took us a while to figure out how to collaborate on a project on this - how to achieve a cohesiveness in the story but also give us all room to contribute something to the project. Finally, Matt decided to write a four part poem that addressed some of the thematic/tonal elements he wanted to see in the story. We took the poem away, spent some time with it, and we were all asked to pick one part of the poem. In what I can only describe as a fantastic piece of good luck, we all chose different parts of the poem. I gravitated to the final segment, which was called Ash.

Uncategorized Fri, 21 Jan 2011 21:07:31 +0000 52 at https://www.playwrightsguild.ca Writing Workshop for Actors and Writers (Toronto) https://www.playwrightsguild.ca/news/writing-workshop-actors-and-writers-toronto
Theatre InspiraTo and New York Theatre Intensives

Presents ...

The Drive of a Ten-Minute Play: A Writing Workshop for Actors and Writers

With ...

Susan Merson (www.susanmerson.com)

Uncategorized Wed, 19 Jan 2011 14:57:50 +0000 51 at https://www.playwrightsguild.ca Upcoming Readings: January/February/March 2011 https://www.playwrightsguild.ca/news/upcoming-readings-januaryfebruarymarch-2011
January

25 Gary Kirkham at Tyndale University College (Toronto, ON) @ 6.30 PM

27 Rex Deverell at The Assembly Hall (Toronto,ON) @ 7.00 PM

30 Colleen Curran at The Performing Arts Lodge (Toronto, ON) @ 2.30 PM

February

07 Damien Atkins at The University of Regina (Regina, SK)

16 Morris Panych at Theatre Books (Toronto, ON)

22 Dale Lakevold at Aqua Books (Winnipeg, MB)

March

Uncategorized Tue, 18 Jan 2011 21:08:22 +0000 50 at https://www.playwrightsguild.ca TheatreBooks presents ...
