Vivienne Laxdal

A long-time resident of the famous Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec, actor and two-time national award-winning playwright Vivienne Laxdal has had a long association with the Great Canadian Theatre Company and the National Arts Centre. The author of more than a dozen plays including Karla and Grif, Cyber:womb, and National Capitale nationale (with Jean Marc Dalpé); her works have been produced in theatres across Canada and in the US. Vivienne has also taught dramatic studies at Algonquin College and has mentored first-year playwrights at the National Theatre School. The feature film adaptation of her 1999 play, These Girls, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2005, was further shown in numerous film festivals around the world and opened in major cinemas across Canada in March 2006.
