Sean Devine

Sean Devine is a playwright, performer and theatre maker based in Ottawa, as well as the artistic director of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Theatre (HHG). Sean’s first play Re:Union premiered in Vancouver in 2011, produced by Pacific Theatre and HHG Theatre. Re:Union was published by Scirocco Drama in 2013, and was remounted at the Magnetic North Theatre Festival in Ottawa in 2015, where it won Best Production at the 2015 Prix Rideau Awards. Sean’s second play Except in the Unlikely Event of War premiered in Vancouver 2013, produced by HHG Theatre and Pi Theatre. Sean's newest work Daisy was commissioned by NYC's Ensemble Studio Theatre, and received its world premiere at Seattle's ACT Theatre in 2016. Daisy has had public readings with Toronto's Studio 180 Theatre, Chicago's TimeLine Theatre, as well as the Icicle Creek New Play Festival. Sean was recently commissioned by the University of Lethbridge to write When There's Nothing Left to Burn, which will be producedin Fall 2017. He's also developing a new play called The Authoritarians, in partnership with HHG, the Resident Ensemble Players at the University of Delaware, and Seattle's ACT Theatre.
