Scott White

Scott White has worked professionally in theatres across the country for over 25 years.  His work encompasses writing, acting, directing, composing, and music direction.  As a performer, Mr. White is best known for his music work including 10 years as a corporate music director and teacher for The Second City, doing music direction at theatres across Canada and the U.S., as well as writing music for film, television and stage. 

Scott has written music for seven professionally produced musicals - most notably; Top Gun! The Musical  which was a Dora and Canadian Comedy Award nominee for best musical with ensuing productions in Canada and the U.S.  For more information on the show go to

Other musical theatre writing includes the score for The Ugly Duckling which had a three month tour of Ontario in English and French, It's Always You, with book and lyrics by Dan Redican which played a sold out run at the 2013 Toronto Fringe and played additional shows at the Best Of The Fringe Festival, music and lyrics for The Snow Queen (which did three provincial tours), The Elves, A Shoemaker & His Wife (which had a three month Ontario tour in French and English), the score for Bosco & Jones (which was named Best Independent Production by Broadway World Toronto), and the Fringe hit Sleepless

Scott has written book and music on four other professionally produced shows. The Dance Of The Dead  played Toronto in 2001 while Scott's family musical The Giant’s Garden (written with Peter Fentonpremiered at Theatre Orangeville in 2007. A one act version of The Giant's Garden was performed at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2011.  This piece was named a Critics' Pick, a Patrons' Pick and was nominated for Best Independent Production by Broadway World Toronto.  The script was a semi-finalist in the Ronald M. Ruble New Play Competition at the Caryl Crane Children's Theatre in Ohio, and was featured at a reading at The Puzzle Arts Festival in New York City.   For information on upcoming productions, go to

His third play as book writer was the full length comedy Bemused (co-written with Peter Fenton),  which played an extended run at Theatre North West in 2014.  Bemused was also a finalist in the Reva Shiner Comedy Award Competition as part of the Bloomington Playwright Project in Indiana. 

Scott's most recent produced work as book writer and composer was the musical Newfoundland Mary (written with Peter Fenton) which completed a 7 week tour of Ontario with Smile Theatre in the fall of 2015 and had a critically acclaimed run in April of 2017 at  Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary, followed by a sold out tour.

Currently he is  expanding Newfoundland Mary into a full-length piece, co-writing on a new comedy called Some Kind Of Happy and in development on a darker one act musical entitled Compulsion.

Compulsion will have it's world premiere at the Toronto Fringe in July of 2018.  For more information go to
