Peter Fenton

Peter Fenton is a Toronto based playwright whose produced work includes the book for two musicals and two plays.

HIs first play Relatively Speaking was produced at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2000.    

His next piece was a musical  entitled The Giant’s Garden (written with Scott Whitewhich premiered at Theatre Orangeville in 2007. A one act version of The Giant's Garden was performed at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2011.  This piece was named a Critics' Pick, a Patrons' Pick and was nominated for Best Independent Production by Broadway World Toronto.  The script was a semi-finalist in the Ronald M. Ruble New Play Competition at the Caryl Crane Children's Theatre in Ohio, and was featured at a reading at  The Puzzle Arts Festival in New York City.  This show has productions planned for 2017 and 2018.  For more details, go to

Peter's full length comedy Bemused (co-written with Scott White) played an extended run at Theatre North West in 2014.  Bemused was also a finalist in the Reva Shiner Comedy Award Competition as part of the Bloomington Playwright Project in Indiana.  It will see upcoming productions in theatres in Canada in 2018.

His most recent work is the musical Newfoundland Mary (written with Scott White)  which completed  a 7 week tour of Ontario with Smile Theatre in 2015 and was one of the top selling shows at Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary, Alberta in the spring of 2017.  The main stage run was followed by a sold out two week tour in the Calgary vicinity.

Currently he is writing on a new comedy Some Kind of Happy and working on expanding Newfoundland Mary to a full length piece.
