Mohammad Yaghoubi

Mohammad Yaghoubi is a playwright, director, screenwriter, theatre instructor,  and artistic director of Nowadays Theatre in Toronto. His works have been produced in Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, Prague, Brussels, Stockholm, Muelheim, and Tehran. He recently mounted his play A Moment of Silence at SummerWorks Performance Festival from 6th-14 of August 2016 at Factory Theatre mainspace. He adapted his play Drought & Lies into a feature film in 2015. 

Plays include A Moment of Silence, Writing in the Dark, Moon on the Water, Drought & Lies, The One Only Possible Way, Geraniums, Red and the Rest, Dance of Torn Papers, Winter 88, and The Pillowman (Martin McDonagh). 

A few of his honours and awards include: The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Play, Drought & Lies; First place winner of the Iranian Playwrights Society and third place winner of the New Play Contest in Toronto Fringe Festival 2016 for Outstanding Writing, A Moment of Silence, The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Writing, Geraniums; The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Direction, Dance of Torn Papers; and The Fadjr Theatre Festival Award for Outstanding Direction and Writing, Winter 88
