Melody Anderson

Melody Anderson shifted her creative focus to playwriting in 2012 after thirty-five years as a theatre designer specializing in masks. Her play, Me and You, which follows the relationship of two sisters over the course of a lifetime, will premiere at the Arts Club Theatre in April 2018.

Previous writing credits include The Number 14 (co-creator) which toured internationally for twenty years, and The Emperor’s New Threads (co-written with Peter Anderson), both for Axis Theatre. Her new play for young audiences, Mister Aesop, is stage-ready and available through PGC.

Scripts in progress include Ditto, a wry exploration of the  nature of individuality and the ramifications of unbridled reproductive technology and Fling, which deals with sexual identity, love, loss, memory and the peeling away of family secrets.

Melody is the recipient of six Jessie awards and five nominations for both design and collective creation. Her masks are used as teaching tools across North America. She is a member of Playwrights Guild of Canada, Playwrights Theatre Centre and Wet Ink Collective. She lives in Vancouver with playwright/actor Peter Anderson.
