Matthew Heiti

Born in Sudbury, Matthew holds a BFA in Acting from Ryerson University and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of New Brunswick. 

His plays have been workshopped across the country and produced at various theatres and festivals including SummerWorks, Lunchbox Theatre and the Sudbury Theatre Centre, where his play Black Dog: 4 vs the wrld will premiere in April 2013.  His northwestern about the Mad Trapper, I Drag My Coffin Through the Lonesome North, won the RBC Tarragon Under 30 Playwriting Competition.

As Playwright-in-residence at STC, Matthew runs the Playwrights’ Junction, a workshop for developing writers.  He is a Genie-nominated screenwriter and his novel, The City Still Breathing, will be published by Coach House in fall 2013.  He is an Associate Artist with Encore Theatre Company, a Dramaturgical Associate with Pat the Dog Playwright Centre, and the Northern Ontario Rep for PGC.
