Londos D'Arrigo

Londos D’Arrigo is a Canadian writer who, for over thirty years wrote hard-hitting laughs for comedy icons such as Phyllis Diller, Lily Tomlin and Joan Rivers.

His five-character comedy, “Spreading It Around” is about Angela Drayton, a wealthy widow living in an up-scale retirement community. Tired of handing out money to her unappreciative children, she starts the “S.I.N. (Spending It Now) Foundation,” to give to those truly in need. This terrifies her greedy son, driving him to devise a plan to have her committed.  “Spreading It Around” received its World premiere in Atlanta, Georgia in January 2009 where it set box office records. Currently “Spreading It Around” is being performed to rave reviews in theatres across Canada and the U.S.

D’Arrigo’s latest comedy is “Harris Cashes Out!”  Forty years ago, composer/lyricist Harris Wellborn wrote an off-Broadway musical which closed after one performance.  We find the now elderly tunesmith down on his luck, living in a run-down apartment building dependent on the charity of his domineering sister – yet still dreaming of making it on Broadway.  The laughs unfold when the literate and witty Harris is thrown together with the flaky young woman who lives down the hall.  His life then takes a hilarious turn when her scheming boyfriend comes up with a devious plan to cash in on Harris’ past.
