Kevin Klassen

Kevin is a Winnipeg-based theatre artist, and has been writing, producing, directing, and/or performing professionally for twenty years. Aftertaste, his first work as a playwright, won the Harry S. Rintoul Award for Best New Manitoba Play at the 2002 Winnipeg Fringe Festival. His first full-length play, Bleeding Hearts, was produced by the Manitoba Theatre Centre in their 2009 Warehouse season (the first Manitoba play seen there in nearly twenty years), to considerable critical and public acclaim. In 2014 he was honoured with the Reg Skene Award for Emerging Playwright. Kevin currently has two plays in development: Danny Vs. The Crocodile, a personal stoy about growing up and growing old; and a new play about Bram Stoker and Henry Irving. He has enjoyed many collaborative efforts with his partner in life and crime, Charlene Van Buekenhout (Echo Theatre).
