Kevin Klassen

Kevin is a Winnipeg-based theatre artist, and has been writing, producing, directing, and/or performing professionally for nearly fifteen years. Aftertaste, his first work as a playwright, won the Harry S. Rintoul Award for Best New Manitoba Play at the 2002 Winnipeg Fringe Festival. His first full-length play, Bleeding Hearts, was produced by the Manitoba Theatre Centre in their 2009 Warehouse season (the first Manitoba play seen there in nearly twenty years), to considerable critical and public acclaim. Kevin currently has two plays in development: an adaptation of Geoffrey Trease's novel Cue For Treason, and an original play about an heroic theatre critic. He also serves as Artistic Co-Chair for Shakespeare in the Ruins, and has enjoyed many collaborative efforts with his partner in life and crime, Charlene Van Buekenhout (Echo Theatre).
