John Lazarus is a playwright, screenwriter and teacher. He was born and grew up in Montreal, where he graduated from the acting program at the National Theatre School in 1969, and moved to Vancouver to become an actor. Self-taught as a playwright, he saw his first play produced in 1971. He has also worked in radio, and as a theatre critic. Currently he is writing for stage and screen, and teaching at Queen's University.
