The Oba Asks for a Mountain, a TYA play opens the 2018 season at Talespinner Children's Theatre in Cleveland.  Her earlier stage play for young audiences, Mella Mella, is a multidisciplinary work with lively African drumming and dancing. It tells the story of an African princess who must find the courage to take a dangerous journey in order to save both the king and the kingdom. This play was produced at Young Peoples Theatre in Toronto and also toured Ontario with Carousel Players. It won the Chalmers Canadian Play Award: Theatre for Young Audiences, and is included in an anthology of plays for young audiences called Prepare to Embark: Six Theatrical Journeys for Young Audiences, published by Playwrights Canada Press.

Gail is a 2015/16 Nord Foundation Fellow at Cleveland Public Theatre where her new work for adults, The Waters, has been developed.

The novel, Mella and the N'anga: An African Tale, published by Sumach Press in fall 2005, was a finalist for the 2005 Governor General's Award for Literature in the children's text category.

As a storyteller, Gail creates original work for adult and young listeners.  She also tells traditional tales from around the world.
