Frederick J. Marker

Frederick J. Marker, Professor Emeritus of English and Drama at the University of Toronto, was educated at Harvard (A.B. 1958), the University of Copenhagen, and the Yale School of Drama (D.F.A. 1967). His critical writing includes books on Ibsen, Strindberg, Gordon Craig, Ingmar Bergman, Hans Christian Andersen, and others. His translations and adaptations of Ibsen and Strindberg have been widely performed at leading regional theatres in North America, England, and Israel. His adaptations of the Bergman stage versions of A Doll's House and Miss Julie were originally published in his book, Ingmar Bergman: A Project for the Theatre.
