Eva Colmers

Eva Colmers works as a writer and director in theatre and film. With a rather visual writing style, she has also created "stories" for dance and puppetry.

Her latest produced play, Beneath the Ice  (Cookie Theatre, Edmonton; Fringe Theatre Adventure, Edmonton; Quest Theatre, Calgary)  played at over 100 schools and theatres and won a Sterling Award.    Spring 2016, the popular Beneath the Ice was published by Playwright Canada as  part of the TYA trilogy  Ignite: Illuminating Theatre for Young People edited by Heather Fitzsimmons Frey. 

Earlier written, directed and produced  plays include Down by the Brook, The Visit Next Door, A Suitcase Full of Stories and the dance piece ki 木 for Mile Zero Dance Company.

Recently, Eva was invited to the prestigious Banff International Literary Translation Centre where she translated Shakespeare's Will by Govenor General award-winning playwright Vern Thiessen into German.

Eva has also written and directed a dozen award-winning shortfilms (2.57k, Granny Baby, Blink!, End of the Rope, The Weightless Traveller and more)  as well as three documentaries for the National Film Board of Canada (We Regret to Inform You..., The Elder Project, The Enemy Within). Her films have been invited to many film festivals across the globe and have received several awards.

Presently, Eva is writing a feature script,directing a new dramatic short and developing a childlren's series.
