Erika Ritter

Erika Ritter was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She studied drama at McGill University in Montreal and received an M.A. from the University of Toronto's Centre for the Study of Drama. Her first professionally-produced play was A Visitor from Charleston, performed at the Manitoba Theatre Workshop in 1976. Her most produced play is Automatic Pilot. In addition to playwriting, she is a radio broadcaster and public speaker, and the author of a novel, three books of essays and a number of published short works of fiction and non-fiction, as well as numerous radio dramas. Erika Ritter has lived in Toronto for many years, though she contrives to be out of town whenever she can.
