David Copelin

David is a playwright, dramaturg, translator, and teacher. His produced plays include Bella Donna (Best Play and Patron's Pick, Toronto Fringe Festival, 2005), Mind Over Matter, A Clean Breast, Quite Contrary, Wife Insurance [with Cat Delaney], and The Angel Capone. David's adaptation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi has been staged at the Shaw Festival, the Yale Repertory Theatre, and at many universities. In collaboration with John Van Burek, David translated Carl Sternheim's comedy Citizen Schippel. For years, he led ScriptLab in Toronto. David has also been a resident dramaturg at such theatres as the Mark Taper Forum, New Dramatists, Arena Stage, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  He has taught playwriting, dramatic literature, and script analysis at the University of California, San Jose State University, New York University, Brock University, Southern Oregon University, and Louisiana State University. A graduate of Yale Drama School, David is represented by Michael Petrasek at The Talent House in Toronto.
