Damien Atkins
Damien Atkins is a playwright and actor whose performing credits include 4 years at the Stratford Festival, and productions at Soulpepper, CanStage, Theatre Calgary, The Grand Theatre, The Citadel, The Vancouver Playhouse, The Manitoba Theatre Centre, The National Arts Centre, The Neptune Theatre, and The Dallas Theater Center. Playwriting credits include Miss Chatelaine (The Grand Theatre/Theatre Passe Muraille), Real Live Girl (Buddies in Bad Times/MTC/The Grand), the adaptation (with Marjorie Chan) of Hisashi Inoue's play In The Garden, Two Suns for Crow's Theatre, Good Mother (Stratford Festival), Lucy (Canadian Stage Co./Ensemble Studio Theatre - NYC/Delaware Theatre Co.) and The Mill, Part Four: Ash (theatrefront). He is the youngest playwright ever produced by the Stratford Festival. For Good Mother, Damien received the $25,000 PRISM/UBC Creative Writing Residency Prize, for Real Live Girl he received two Dora Mavor Moore Awards: Best Actor in a Musical and Outstanding New Musical, and Lucy was nominated for two Doras, including Outstanding New Play. Damien has been playwright-in-residence at both the University of British Columbia and the Canadian Stage Company, and he is a Guest Instructor at the National Theatre School.
