Celeste Sansregret

Celeste Sansregret was born in Winnipeg's legendary North End and divides her time between Winnipeg and Toronto.

She began performing at age 3 1/2, and has appeared in over 30 plays and numerous films, including two national tours on the Fringe circuit with solo shows she created: WONDERBAR! and  IN A MAGIC KINGDOM.

Sansregret's plays include: FAMILY JEWELS, WONDERBAR, IN A MAGIC KINGDOM, THE MISTRESS TRILOGIES and an adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens. She also co-created BREAST FRIENDS with Alison Field, Kim Zeglinski, Heather Witherdon and Angela La Muse.

Additionally, Sansregret has written two feature film scripts: VOODOO and NATURAL JUSTICE, which received both a Banff Fellowship and a Harold Greenberg Award.  She worked at a television researcher at Frantic Films and has served as dramaturge, story editor, and consultant on many plays and screenplays. She taught writing for the Winnipeg Film Group and continues to teach for the Ontario Simulation Network.

Her latest play, URSA MAJORIS is currently in development with Native Earth Performing Arts.

Sansregret is a graduate of both the University of Winnipeg (Theatre) and The Canadian Film Centre (Prime Time Television Writing). She is a member of the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance.
