Cat Walsh

Cat is an Edmonton-based writer and performer whose work is known for its dark sense of humour. Her new play Do This In Memory of Me was shortlisted for the Alberta Playwriting Competition, and will premiere in March 2018 in a bilingual production of Northern Light Theatre and L'Unitheatre.She's proud to have been the playwright in residence at an Edmonton funeral home as part of This is YEG, an innovative arts in community project with Workshop West Playwright's Theatre. Her historical drama After Vermeer won the Discovery Category of the Alberta Playwriting Competition, and she has been nominated for the Elizabeth Sterling Haynes award for Outstanding New Play twice for The Laws of Thermodynamics and for 50 Plays About Love (written with James Hamilton, Collin Doyle, and Mike Thompson), and twice for Outstanding New Fringe Work for The Rhythm Method and for her solo play eleven-oh-four. Her monologue Potluck won the Alberta Anthology competition, and was produced for CBC Radio. Her monologue Blue Marty was performed as part of Skirts aFire's The Mommy Monologues. Her other plays include Fetch, The Feast of All Saints and The Amaze-o-nauts Must Die! (with James Hamilton). She is a member of the Citadel Playwrights' Forum and a graduate of the University of Ottawa.
