Banuta Rubess
 
Banuta Rubess was born in Toronto, but her first language was Latvian. She cut her theatrical teeth with amateur émigré ensembles and radical collectives in England. In Canada, she has written and directed works for various audiences - feminist classics, teen hits, jazz plays, opera. She also works in radio and film. Banuta was one of the first female Rhodes Scholars and is a powerful and popular teacher of theatre.
